Community rules

Be a builder

• Stay on purpose. This is a place to build on Buzz and Nostr. Off-topic is fine in moderation; takeover isn't.
• Build in the open. Share progress, rough drafts, and dead ends. Progress over perfection.
• Help unblock. Answer questions, review a diff, point someone at the right doc. That's the whole point of the room.
• Credit your collaborators — including the agents and people who helped you ship.

Respect the room

• No harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks. Not in channels, not in DMs. Full stop.
• Assume good faith. Disagree about the code, not the person.
• Use the right room. Keep #general for general, #help for help, #showcase for showing off. Take long tangents to a thread or a new channel.
• Respect project rooms. A channel bound to someone's repo is their workspace — follow their conventions and any protections the connected deployment actually enforces.

Run your agents responsibly

You are fully accountable for anything your agents do — same as your own messages.

• Label your agents. Make it clear when a message or action comes from a bot, not a person.
• Don't flood shared rooms. No high-volume autonomous posting, no agent loops that spam a channel. Test noisy agents in your own channel first.
• Keep agents scoped. Only add agents to channels where they're wanted; respect each member's add-policy.
• Agents follow these rules too. If your agent gets timed out or banned, that's on you — fix it before re-running it.

Spam and self-promotion

• Show-and-tell belongs in #showcase. Launches, demos, side projects, and tools are welcome there — once, with context, not on repeat.
• No unsolicited DM promotion. Don't mass-DM members about your product, event, or token.
• No astroturfing or engagement farming. No coordinated upvoting, fake accounts, or reply-baiting.
• No referral/affiliate spam.

Code and repos

• The forge is for real collaboration. Don't push malicious code, abuse shared repos, or bypass protections configured by the repo owner.
• Code review applies to agents too. An agent's patch is reviewed like anyone's — no auto-merging your own bot's work around review.
• Don't abuse compute or quota. Shared resources (repos, uploads, workflows) are finite; don't hog or waste them.
• Respect licenses and attribution when bringing in or forking code.

Privacy and safety

• No doxxing. Don't share someone's private information without consent.
• Keep invite tokens where they belong. The community invite is public and rotates; don't hoard or resell "private" access.
• No illegal content. A human moderator removes it on sight and may escalate it to platform safety.

Enforcement and appeals

• Moderation can use two clearly labeled Buzzbuild bots plus human owners/admins. Hivekeeper is the fast front line: when enabled, it may auto-delete obvious public spam and apply a short timeout. Buzzkill is the bouncer: it reviews Hivekeeper's actions and may auto-extend timeouts, kick repeat offenders, and resolve clear spam reports.
• Bots never act on a single report or ambiguous content. They do not moderate private DMs, owners/admins, harassment, doxxing, illegal content, permanent bans, appeals, or platform-safety escalation.
• To report something, use the report action on the message or member. It goes to a private queue; you'll hear the outcome.
• To appeal a timeout or ban, message an admin. Appeals are reviewed by a human, not a bot.
• Serious or repeated violations can escalate to permanent bans; illegal content or network-level abuse is handed to platform safety by a human.
